    Description

"Buttermilk Toilet Soap" at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair: Color Series Ad Card
    - 2.5 x 3.5 inches stiff
    cream coated card
with black print and color graphic of the
    Mines and Mining Building
    (front shown). Chicago:
    Buttermilk Soap Co.
, 1893. Single card printed both sides (back describes some of their "
    Cosmo Brand
" bath and beauty products - shown). Space for "Compliments of" blank makes it more likely to have been a handout at the Fair.
    -
    Supplemental Information:
    Buttermilk Soap Company
    was a
    large suppler of toiletries
. Their exhibit space was located in the
    Manufactures Building, Group 87
(Listing and location given in "The Official Directory" of exhibitors shown and digitally highlighted). I've sold some of their other cards in this series showing the WCE Main Buildings. Buttermilk Soap was established by Warren Burns in 1891 with home office in Chicago and factory in Goshen, IL. Buttermilk soap is
    still sold today
because of its gentle cleansing of skin.
