This paperweight was made for the World's
Columbian Exposition
(the official shortened name for the World's Fair:
Columbian Exposition
, also known as the Chicago World's Fair. It was a world's fair held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World in 1492.
. This incredible piece was quality-made of thick clear glass and features a portrait of Christoper Columbus in the center. It measures roughly 3 3/16" across. This was acquired from the liquidation of The Christoper Columbus Museum that contained the most incredible collection of items featuring the Chicago's 1893 World's Columbian Exposition!
CONDITION : The glass is is nice shape for being over 125+ years old. It does have a few barely noticeable marks, but still displays wonderfully. It has some very light scratching/marks on the top that can only be seen at a certain angle. I believe that they may be able to be rubbed out, but I will leave this to the new owner as I think it looks just fine. I have tried to make the photos look worse than it actually is, but it was very hard to photograph, being clear glass. Please closely examine the photos for additional details.
